You may not realize you have genital warts for years if you are carrying the HPV. Many individuals become infected and do not see visible genital warts for a very long time, if at all.
Don’t: Don’t try to pick or cut off your genital warts by yourself. You are not a doctor, therefore, you can serious hurt yourself and the warts can bleed A LOT. It is always best to let a professional doctor remove anything on your body, especially is such a sensitive area.

Do: Do use protection when you are engaging in sexual intercourse if you have the human papillomavirus. Genital warts are the most common STD’s and are highly contagious. If you do not wear protection, you are putting your partner at serious risk.
Don’t: Don’t have sexual intercourse if you have a serious case of genital warts. If you case of genital warts is very obvious, you should have any form of sexual relations until a treatment is applied.

Do: Do take in account all the different treatment available to you, e.g., topical and surgical treatments.

There are various treatments that will help you get rid of those nasty genital warts in a safe, effective manner. One of the most successful treatments is Electrocautery.

Electrocautery is where an electric current is used for the removal of genital warts. The electric current burns off the warts and will leave you genital warts free (hopefully). After this surgery, you may experience some temporary swelling, redness and general pain around the infected area.

According to a research conducted on people who had Electrocautery, 82 percent of the genital warts were removed after this treatment initially. But like with any surgery there are risks involved with it. The three risks are infection, blood loss and general pain. These side-effects can be treated fairly easily, call your doctor if you experience one of these after surgery. The best case scenario is that you never have to go back for any other treatment and your genital warts stay gone.

In Women

Genital warts appear generally appear in the moist regions of the vaginal opening and the libia minora. If the lesions are seen at the outer genital parts then you must have a thorough examination of the anorectal area, cervix, and the vaginal canal. Vaginal warts are very gradual and develop at a very slow pace and often the vaginal warts spring up without any symptoms. If a woman has genital warts, there is a risk of bleeding during sexual intercourse, vaginal discharge or server irritation.

In Men

Genital warts infect the penis, scrotum and rectal area. These warts start off soft as elevated masses with a smooth or rough surface which then can form into cauliflower and pear-like. Most of the genital warts are raised from the surface of the skin. There are some genital warts that are flat and have a slight elevation, so you must be aware of which type of genital warts you have.

You must go to the doctor often if you suspect something is wrong with you. You should not wait until your genital warts have spread all over your genitals for you to finally seek treatment. Genital warts are a virus, and viruses spread fairly easily in many cases. You wouldn’t let your computer become taken over by a virus would you? So why would you let your body? You wouldn’t, would you. The faster you find the proper treatment, the faster you will be able to continue your sexual activity.
